Advancing Health Equity

Both egg freezing and surrogacy have grown rapidly in recent years as more people delay family formation to focus on their career, education, and financial stability. Despite 18% of the global population being affected by infertility, fertility services remain costly and challenging to access for many. Our investment in Cofertility supports greater access to these critical services for women, LGBTQIA+ families, and the BIPOC community. We proactively reached out to the Cofertility team in advance of the fundraise to get to know the team and were delighted to participate in the Series A through Gratitude Ventures Fund II.  

Why We Invested in Cofertility

Differentiated Egg Sharing Business Model

Through Cofertilty’s platform, egg donors are able to freeze their eggs for free when they donate half of the eggs retrieved to parents seeking donor eggs. Cofertility’s egg sharing model is unique in the market and enables women to freeze their eggs in their 20’s and early 30’s, when their eggs are healthiest, but the upfront cost is a barrier. This model is bringing a new set of donors to the market who are educated, ambitious, and diverse.  

Experienced Founding Team with Strong Market-Founder Fit

Lauren Makler, the CEO and Founder, founded Uber Health, which solved social determinants of health in underserved communities by implementing non-emergency medical transportation and medication delivery for low-income and elderly populations. Halle Tecco, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board, is an established leader in the healthcare space who founded Natalist and Rock Health.
